Education in images
Artistic and cultural transmission is central to the mission of the ENSP and educational projects around images and cultural actions are developed each year at the school.
Access to culture is a right for everyone; the ENSP offers a free programme of encounters and conferences as well as an educational programme including workshops around experimentation and innovation in image making.
The educational and cultural programme, developed both inside and out of the school, is intended to reach the widest possible population. It aims to encourage the kind of questioning that images can provoke regarding our experience of the world, situating them in a social and political context, and placing artistic practice at the centre.
In 2020 – 2021, l’ENSP ran three projects:
→ ImagesIn
ImagesIn is a project supported by the French Minister of Culture as part of the CulturePro 2020 programme. In addition to the initial Master’s training at the ENSP, ImagesIn enables young graduates to acquire skills and know-how in the field of image education and mediation. It also allows them to be initiated into agile methods and service design in order to construct an innovative educational offer in relation to future beneficiaries (primary and secondary school children, arts centres, retirement homes, community centres etc).
The ImagesIn project was carried out in close collaboration with the Jeu de Paume, Le BAL and the Rencontres d’Arles as well as the educational Academy of Aix-Marseille.
→ Ça va pas?!
Ça va pas?! is a series of encounters offering a dialogue between thought and artistic practice. Artists, philosophers, historians and scientists are invited through the year to discuss online or in the auditorium of the school on the theme of « Ça va pas ?! »
→ L’Avis d’après
L’Avis d’après is a series of conversations between graduates of the school and current students where school alumni tell all about life after graduation. From research to teaching, curating or artistic practice, from editorial to commercial work, graduates of the ENSP have been pursuing careers in a multitude of fields related to images for the almost 40 years since the school’s creation.
LENSP has also been supporting the Tout Contre project, led by the Art’image en Mouvement association and the F Compagnie.
→ Tout Contre
Tout Contre is an intergenerational project carried out in three ‘quartiers’ of Arles – Barriol, Griffeuille et Trébon – made up of photographic workshops and an exhibition of the participants work
